Eyung is the Director of the Digital Design & Development (DCube) team at the Government Digital Services (GDS) division in GovTech. His key roles include communicating with other government agencies to understand the issues faced by them and proposing how the various functional and cross-functional teams of GDS can come together to help. Within his team, he works with different team leads and oversees the delivery of products to the agencies.

How can we cope with these changes and stay resilient in these trying times? On this session of Ask Me Anything with Ms Kuik Shiao-yin, Director of The Thought Collective, we seek to rediscover and understand our emotions on a deeper level.

Shiao-yin leads a group of social businesses known as The Thought Collective. Outside of the Collective, she served the public sector twice as a Nominated Member of Parliament in the 12th and 13th Parliament of Singapore. Sharing her insights into the emotional and narrative roots of change, she also helps the boards and committees she sits on strategically shape their approach to developing youth talent (SCAPE*) and nurturing cross-cultural harmony (OnePeople.sg). Shiao-Yin believes in helping young people realise their capacity to impact their culture and community through a thoughtful and compassionate approach to work.

Prof Dean Ho leads the development of IDentif.AI, a platform that harnesses Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Medicine to rapidly optimise combination therapy design against infectious diseases. A recent study has validated the platform's robustness in identifying optimal drug cocktails for the SARS-CoV-2. In this tea, Prof Dean will share his insights into the capabilities of AI to revolutionize conventional approaches to medicine, and the significance of utilizing novel technologies to push the frontiers of healthcare.

Prof Dean Ho is Provost’s Chair Professor, Director of The N.1 Institute for Health (N.1), Director of the Institute for Digital Medicine (WisDM), and Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the National University of Singapore. Using his CURATE.AI platform, Prof Ho has led multiple pioneering clinical studies that have validated the promise of N-of-1 medicine, where only a patient’s own data is used to personalise their treatment for the entire duration of care. Multiple CURATE.AI-based clinical studies are ongoing or cleared for start in the areas of solid cancer and blood cancer therapy, digital therapeutics/personalised learning, and post-organ transplant immunosuppression, among others.

Speaker Profile

For 26 years, Bertha Henson was a journalist for the Singapore Press Holdings stable of newspapers. She covered Singapore developments and has had stints in the broadsheet's lifestyle section, political and news section, in addition to helming its photography and art departments. She was also a former deputy editor of The New Paper and her last designation was Associate Editor of The Straits Times.

If you're thinking of entering data science, portfolio projects are important both for practice and to impress future employers. Yet it is impossible to do these projects without a good dataset. In this session, UpLevel co-founder Jackie Tan will introduce unique, interesting and relevant sources of data that learners can use to make their portfolio projects stand out. Move along, Titanic (dataset)!

Basic understanding of coding is recommended, but don't fret if you don't know Python; we'll be giving the Excel equivalent as well.


Instructor Profile

Jackie strongly believes in closing skill gaps with project-based learning, having close to 400 students under his belt in the UpLevel's curriculum. He has also assisted regional MNCs and SMEs in their digital transformation through his design of a P2P algorithm for the unbanked population in SEA. An international speaker on entrepreneurship and AI and mentor for several entrepreneurship programs, he is one of the awardees of Forbes 30 under 30 and the National Youth Entrepreneurship Award.

More than just disc-throwing buddies, Chin Hui and Maxx spend a bulk of their time exploring the realm of programming. Over the summer, Maxx has also been involved with Orbital, where his team's project clinched the Judge's Choice Award. Most recently, they picked up the skills of developing a Telegram Bot together.

Melissa is a digital artist who loves drawing landscapes, nature subjects and portraits. She was the co-publicity head of Tembusu Arts Council, overseeing design and publicity materials for arts events in the college. She is experienced in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and designs for both personal and work projects. Her artworks can be seen on Instagram @mellowillustrates (and @mellowscribbles, if you’re into puns).
